  • Biography

Dr Robyn Coleman (Meades) MBBS (Syd) ACCAM ASMA
Robyn was born in Sydney in 1956. She grew up in Dobroyd Point, Sydney exploring the foreshore and messing about in boats. This grew into a lifelong obsession when she met and married her husband Anthony who was a nature lover and keen sailor racing keel yachts on beautiful Sydney Harbour.

Studies, work in Medicine and raising a family intervened in the following years. Her daughter Karen was doing a Fine Arts Degree when she first suggested she go to the Royal Art Society of NSW because it was a highly regarded community of artists in 2006. She had completed a Diploma of Visual Arts at the Northbridge School of Visual Arts in the previous year.
She trained under Master pastellist Greg Hansell FRAS at the Royal Art Society Art School in pastels and earth pastels. Earth pastels are a unique medium hand made from natural ochre with beautiful durable colours of reds, yellows, oranges
and greys that lend themselves so well to the natural environment. She was thrilled to be admitted as an Exhibiting of the Royal Art Society in 2016. She has exhibited in every exhibition 4-5 times per year since membership.

She has also exhibited at the beautiful Mosman Art Gallery in 2017 and 2019, Julian Ashton School at George’s Heights in their 9x5 and 9x7 Exhibition in 2019. She exhibited five paintings in the Australian Society of Marine Artists 2019 National Exhibition in Carnegie Hall in the Maritime Museum in Hobart for six months to coincide with the 75th anniversary race of the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. She was reviewed by Penny McLeod very favorably for this exhibition in the Hobart Mercury.

She has also demonstrated plein air at Balmoral Beach for Mosman Council. She is an Exhibiting member of the Mosman Art Society, Australian Society of Marine Artists and the Creative Doctors Group. Her work has attracted Commended and Highly Commended Awards and has sold locally, interstate and internationally.
