Richard Bardsley Smith
Studied Town Planning at UNSW Faculty of Architecture in 1970s. First began watercolour painting at that time. Maintained painting as a hobby while working in public service and private sector. Setup and ran a planning and design consultancy with two friends for 25 years until recent retirement. Illustration and rendering work was often undertaken throughout working life while painting remained a hobby. Now seeking to paint full time in retirement.
Accepted as a member of the Australian Watercolour Institute (AWI) 2019;
Current Vice President of Randwick Art Society.
Finalist in the Sydney Morning Herald Art Prize 1980s;
Finalist in Mosman Art Prize 2003;
First prize for watercolour in Sydney Royal Easter Show 2003;
Highly commended watercolours in Sydney Royal Easter Show 2011 and Camberwell Art Show 2013;
