Artist’s Statement
Pauline's love of creativity blossomed after retirement from the health professions. Initially concentrating on scientific illustration, she broadened her endeavors as her confidence grew and Pauline now has a particular interest in portraiture.
Biography
Pauline Dewar is a well-regarded Australian artist with a focus on botanical art although she often delights in including a fauna component to her highly detailed and intricate works. She has been creating art for over 10 years and has won several awards including the prestigious Margaret Flockton Award for Scientific Illustration (2016) and was a Highly Commended finalist in the 2014 Waterhouse Art Exhibition.
Pauline resides in the inner suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, however she prefers to create her works from live specimens and so often travels to collect materials from various locations across Victoria. She works in a variety of mediums including watercolour, pencil and ink; and has recently begun exploring textile works.
