Mary Hyde is a tonal oil painter of landscape still life portrait and figure studies. She has painted for more than 20 years with a great regard for outdoor painting and still life work in the studio. Her work demonstrates a strong understanding of tonal values with a sensitive and efficient colour usage. Harmonious brush work with rich warmth in her colours are hallmarks of her painting style. Mary paints a scenic range from involved elements like buildings to distant panoramic views. Her studio work is a statement of many years of still life and figure painting where light and subject selection are brought to life with her gentle technique.
Mary’s worked flourished with overseas travel to the UK and Europe in 2011and New Zealand in 2014, where the scenery and need to paint in busy locations developed an energy and immediacy in her work.
