Artist’s Statement
Geoff began painting approx four years ago after retiring, and his works usually have a connection to the ocean and beaches.
Biography
An artist from Sydney Australia, A printmaker making mainly multi-colour reduction linocut prints, and also paint acrylics on paper and stretch canvas. Occasionally using watercolours and pastels.
He grew up in a small fishing village in Australia, on NSW's north coast. The house backed onto the beach, and he wasn’t allowed to venture there until he could swim.
He developed a love of nature early and when and at 12, took up surfboard riding. This was a new sport and there was only a handful surfing along our coast.
Geoff left school at 16 and worked in various Telecommunications companies (both Public and private enterprises) until 2015 when at 60, was made redundant.
He always had an interest in art, but it was then he was able to take short courses and begin an art education.
Geoff's Reduction prints and paintings have found homes in Australia, England, France, Netherlands, Israel, Canada, USA and the Ukraine.
Influences
Geoff has undertaken art short courses in pastels, lithograph, etching, linocut, watercolour, acrylics and glass.
Awards
2019 Finalist, tradition section Fishers Ghost Art Prize.
