  • Biography

My favourite subjects to paint are varied. I especially love the ocean and all things relating to marine life, seafarers, nature and especially the water, sparkles and reflections and how the light dances with waves. I guess it's in my blood -both my grandfathers were deep water divers in their own business they were fishermen, divers for sponges and
marine salvaging divers in the waters of the Aegean Sea, Adriatic Sea and Mediterranean Sea. They originally were brought up in Rhodes/Simi, Greek Islands and then were appointed to marine lvaging in the Mediterranean but based in Tripoli Libya where both my parents and I was born. Tripoli like Rhodes was an Italian colony and therefore Italian influence was widespread until the 70's.
I have been fortunate to be brought up in a multicultural environment and have a couple of languages under my belt.
I simply adore traveling adventures within Australia and worldwide and find many places influence what I like to paint. I am also influenced by the Masters of the impressionists and when lucky enough to travel to Paris, Normandy, Provence and many other places within France will always visit the amazing works at their wonderful galleries within Europe.

Due to family commitments In the past and only since retirement, have I been able to seriously devote entirely to my passion for painting and hence being able to experiment in a variety of mediums to use with associated topics.
ln the past and as an emerging artist, I have been able to exhibit locally and have had some favorable results. It seems that my buyers favour marine related subjects and some share the enthusiasm for daily swims. I really need to invest in an underwater camera as there are so many treasures and colours to behold during these daily swims. Yes, even in reasonably shallow waters at our local beaches! I am simply in awe with this wonderful gift from Mother Nature and rely on my memory in an endeavour to reproduce all of Its beauty in my paintings.
